It always tends to be that the best-laid plans don’t necessarily work out. I did get myself packed after a seven-day work stint on Thursday, with the intent to leave Friday morning. Still, I woke in the middle of the night with another cold, so yesterday just chilled and took it easy, feel better today, but shame, as besides crawling, they were catching some nice trout! Today’s scenic view, overlooking the Mississippi River valley north of Prairie du Sac, reminds me of the beauty we can enjoy outdoors.

It’s Hump Day, but it’s also Earth Day, a moment for personal reflection on my experiences in nature and the importance of respecting our resources. I know the official meaning shown on the site, but for me, it’s a reminder of all the times I’ve shared in nature what she’s willing to share, be it the fun times Muskie fishing, the thrill of the catch, and the oh-so-important release. Camping and enjoying the sounds and sights, exploring like in the shot today along the Trans-Wisconsin Adventure Trail. And contrary to what some folks think, I believe many in the past were more respectful of our resources than folks are now. The number of people just being rude and throwing their garbage anywhere is staggering. Remember, it’s not always the grand gestures that help the planet; it’s the little things as well, such as being a good steward!
